Remodeling a value chain

The hand tool industry is definetly not an endless pool of innovation. Due to the mature nature of the industry innovation and disruption is rather minimal. With WIESEMANN 1893 we have digitized the customer’s purchasing process so far. ENABLE 3D goes a bit further by digitizing the delivery process in addition. However, in both cases we are facing a brand-to-consumer transaction.

Today we are launching the CPS - Community Printing Service. As many consumers are still lacking the 3D printing infrastructure we aim to offer a print-on-demand service. But instead of us, selected community members take care of the production and shipping process. As many experienced users from our community are facing only a small workload for their printing infrastructure we are enabling them to produce for other users.

We are hoping to bridge the current infrastructure gap with this project. However, we do not know wether consumer’s are acceopting this new form of value chain and the brand’s role in it. In this model we are transitioning from a traditional manufacturing brand to a design or software supplier.

At the end of the day the customer will decide if it is time for a disruption in our industry’s value chain already.
